A hall on the same corner since 1979

Twelve families started it in a rented school gymnasium. It is now four rooms, a commercial kitchen and about eight hundred households, and it is still run by people who live within a mile of the door.

A room for anything

Weddings, wakes, committee nights and the Tuesday quilting circle. Four rooms, hired by the hour.

Somewhere to be

The after-school club, the senior circle and the lunch club run every week, and have for thirty years.

Run by the neighborhood

About forty volunteers, one paid caretaker, and accounts read out at the annual meeting every March.

Hire

Four rooms and a kitchen

Weddings, committee nights, classes and wakes. Weekday evenings are the quietest and the cheapest, and the caretaker opens up for every booking.

The quarterly

Four times a year, printed and posted to every member — and kept here afterwards, which is where people go looking when they want to know what the roof cost.

What your giving pays for

Room hire covers the building. Everything else — the after-school club, the transport to the senior circle, the kitchen appeal — is paid for by people who live within a mile of the door.

A receipt is issued for every gift, and a summary for the tax year goes out each January.
